Mirissa Beach at Night: The South Coast After Dark

By Days of Iru and Opa

Mirissa is one of the easiest beaches on the south coast to just settle into. By day it is whale watching and surf, but the evening is when it really turns on, with tables and fairy lights spilling onto the sand.

What to expect

The bay curves gently, so the water is calm enough for a swim, and the beachfront restaurants set up right on the sand. Grilled seafood, cold drinks, and quiet music are the usual mix, without the intensity of a party beach.

Good to know

Whale watching boats leave very early from Mirissa harbour in season (roughly November to April). Coconut Tree Hill at the east end of the bay is the famous sunset and photo spot.
