Marble Beach, south of Trincomalee, gets its name from water that is often astonishingly calm and clear, mirror smooth on a still day. Backed by forest and set within a managed area, it is a serene spot for swimming and floating. The gentle conditions suit families and relaxed beach days.

The water

On calm days the bay is almost glassy, shallow near the shore and lovely for a gentle swim. Its sheltered position keeps it calmer than many open coast beaches.

The setting

Forest backs the sand, and the beach is kept tidy within a managed area. There are usually basic facilities and a small entry charge.

Best season

The east coast shines from roughly late spring through early autumn, when seas are calmest and skies are bright. Trincomalee's other beaches are an easy add on.
