Lover's Leap Waterfall in Nuwara Eliya
By Days of Iru and Opa
Lover's Leap sits right above Nuwara Eliya, fed by streams off Pidurutalagala, the highest mountain on the island. It comes with an old local legend about two lovers, and the walk to it runs through a tea estate.
What to expect
A short, mostly gentle walk from the estate leads to the base of the falls, which drop in a tall thin ribbon down the rock. The setting among tea and eucalyptus is as much of the appeal as the water.
Good to know
It is close enough to town to do in a morning. Wear shoes with grip for the last rocky stretch, and expect stronger flow in the wetter months.
