Hiriketiya has become the south coast’s style capital, a tiny horseshoe bay where surf-and-yoga days slide into laid-back beach-bar nights and the occasional DJ sunset session.
The vibe
Think barefoot beach bars, cocktails, fire pits and sunset sets rather than big clubs. The crowd is a mix of surfers, digital nomads and long-stay travellers.
Day to night
Surf or yoga in the morning, laze through the afternoon, then drift between the bars around the bay as the sun goes down.
Good to know
It is popular and can get busy in the December to March high season. Nearby Dickwella and Tangalle are quieter if you want to slow it down.
