Dunsinane Falls: An Underrated Highland Waterfall

By Days of Iru and Opa

Dunsinane Falls, near the village of the same name in the highlands, is a broad and forceful waterfall that flies under the radar. It sits near a reservoir that feeds a hydro plant, so the flow can be strong.

What to expect

The water spreads over a wide ledge and drops into a pool below, framed by hills and tea. Because few tourists come here, it often feels like you have the place to yourself.

Good to know

Flow depends partly on the reservoir and the season, so it is most impressive in the wetter months. The final approach is rocky, so wear proper shoes.
