Devon Falls: A Roadside Cascade in Tea Country
By Days of Iru and Opa
Devon Falls, named after a pioneering coffee planter whose estate once bordered it, tumbles down a rock face surrounded by tea estates. A roadside viewpoint makes it one of the simplest waterfalls to see in the highlands.
The viewpoint
A tea centre and viewpoint on the Hatton, Talawakele road looks straight across the valley at the falls. There is no climb involved.
Best time
Like most highland falls it is strongest after rain and can thin out in the dry season. Mornings are usually clearer before the cloud builds.
Nearby
St. Clair’s Falls is minutes away, and the tea towns of Talawakele and Hatton are close for a factory tour.
