Bathalegala (Bible Rock): The Flat-Topped Mountain

Bathalegala, better known as Bible Rock for its flat, open-book shape, rises over the Kegalle countryside on the Kandy road. The hike to the top is a local favourite for its wide, uncrowded summit views.
What to expect
The trail climbs through villages and forest to a flat summit that drops away on all sides, with a panorama over the hills toward Kandy. On a clear morning it feels like standing on the edge of the world.
Good to know
Start early to beat the heat and the afternoon haze. Carry water and wear proper shoes, since the last stretch is a real climb.
